Laurens Verhagen (born 1969) is the AI and technology editor at De Volkskrant, specializing in the impact of artificial intelligence on society. He studied philosophy and has been writing about technology since the 1990s. Beyond AI, his key topics include Big Tech power and the influence of social media. He's also an author — he published a book called Heen. Prior to his current role at De Volkskrant (since January 2017), he served as Editor-in-Chief of Digital News Selective at De Persgroep (2012–2017), Editor-in-Chief at NU.nl (2006–2011), and Editor-in-Chief at WebWereld (1999–2006). He was also a board member of the Genootschap van Hoofdredacteuren (Society of Editors-in-Chief).
